Hello, I'm V S.

Hello and welcome! I am a certified instructor of yoga and Pilates and have been teaching for over twenty-five years throughout Bay Area and the country. I have studied many methods and styles of movement over the years, including Pilates, yoga, modern dance, ballet, Qi Gong, and the somatic movement lessons of Moshe Feldenkrais. I have also practiced and studied mindfulness and breathing techniques for many years including, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction(MBSR); and Zen and Buddhist meditation and breathing practices. I now try to draw from my professional training in all of these methods and integrate them into my classes as is appropriate, inspiring and helpful to each class and individual. Movement and breathing are natural for human beings, but we sometimes forget to do it consciously and fully. When we do so, breath work can be very healing especially when combined with movement and practiced regularly. My goal is to make learning these exercises and movement concepts clear, easy, accessible and fun for all fitness levels and ages. I also truly enjoy helping people improve their strength, flexibility, agility, coordination, posture and balance, and I love teaching my students to move and breathe with more ease, grace, joy and freedom! ***If you are interested in doing private or semi-private sessions, please contact me by going to "Request a Private class". *Private training sessions = 80./session *Package of 5 privates = 375. *Semi-private sessions (2 or 3 people) = 60./person *Package of 5 semi-privates = 275./person *Small group classes (4-10 people) = 30./person (All sessions are 55 minutes and are taught via Zoom) *Private training can also make a great gift to a friend, colleague or family member, or gather some friends together and celebrate a special occasion with your own custom-tailored Zoom (or live socially-distanced outdoor exercise class!)

    I have been taking classes with V for several years and was very glad when she decided to continue them online through the pandemic. Her stretch/unwind/relax class is the next best thing to a massage, now that those are off the table. The sense of relaxation one feels at the end of the class is wonderful, but the day after it feels even better! The online format works well, the sound is great, I can actually hear her better than when she used to teach it in a large studio, and she is able to see the participants and correct their posture. V is a great instructor, gentle, easy-going and kind. Her classes are very enjoyable and I always look forward to them.

    I have taken V’s Strong Core/Healthy Back class for years, and I highly recommend it, in particular for anyone with back pain. I rely on this class to help keep my sciatica, lower-back and neck pain in check without painkillers or physical therapy. V is an excellent instructor, who gives clear explanations, is attentive to everyone’s needs, varies the routine so it never gets old, is super knowledgeable of many types of body work and is creative with the use of props (roller, ball, strap, block, etc), although she can also do wonders with just a yoga mat.
